The AppalCART uniform situation is 2 fold.
1) We would like to move away from leased apparel and purchase uniforms. Our uniform budget is large and we're continually growing; adding new routes and hiring more drivers.
2) NCDOT-PTD would like for AppalCART to be ANSI compliant. Inexpensive, USA located, reflective apparel is not easy to find but we purchased some samples from

ranger hat = $7prices are excellent, quality of the apparel is very good. Tim says it's very comfortable on a hot day.
The orange vests that we've been wearing cover up the AppalCART logo.
Our drivers would prefer shirts that are not solid lime, I found some nice ones in China and Australia but none in the USA. Reflective Apparel doesn't have any shirts available that would be part lime and part black like the parka pictured below. (Colorblind people see orange as black, so orange is not recommended).
Our present uniform company brought a couple of lime samples. We didn't like the quality of the shirts and the shirts would be quite expensive.
We would like some feedback from NCDOT officials and other transportation authorities around the state.
